The Frankfurt-based architects feuerundschmitz has placed in a residential development area Mainzer cube, which distinguishes itself with confidence in his clear, stringent form of the typical saddle-home builder, dream the surroundings.
These are the construction of a two-storey family house. In a second phase of construction, the building can be increased with an attic. The ground floor is designed as an open floor plan with no fixed spatial separation. The space created on the one hand extended outward through the generous glazing and selected the top by two small apertures that create a connection to the upper floor of the building. The corridor area of the upper floor is determined by the positioning of these two air spaces and the glazing extends visually in all directions. The light of the interior materials in conjunction with the light through the large glass areas give the viewer within the compact building a generous spatial impression. The choice of exterior paint dark supports this effect.
